December 8, 1944   (from Aline)

Dear Wilma,

I received the package today and everything got here all right. I think the pictures of your Dad and Mother is very good and it’s so nice they had one taken. The luxxxxxx clothes she had made amess mic and we can use them here in our apartment but I think I’ll put them in my cedar chest and save them.

I was glad to hear from you and didn’t know you even still in Claxxx. And I guess you are anxious to get back home. I know it must be hard for yuo just to sell everything least of course its the best thing to do.

We are still working about as usual but not too hard. We have been having real nice weather here lately, in always cool when we go to work in the mornings but by noon it’s nice and warm. We went up to the mountains this last week end and had a lot of fun. It was really cold and a lot of snow in places so we really had a time.

I got a letter from a E Monday but haven’t heard from him since. He said he had been real busy so i guess he hasn’t had much time to write. He sent me a neckless and some beads he had made out of sea shells last week. They are real cute and something to keep for a souvenir.

Unless I change my mind I guess I’ll spend Christmas in Taft Calf with my cousin who is living there now. Sadie hasn’t gotten married but she may around Christmas. I wanted join the Army but hate to join by myself so if she should change her mind about getting married will both join the army.

Just a year ago today we arrived in L.A. but in a way it doesn’t seem like it has bee that long but it seems like it has been much longer than that since. I have seen Elmer when we first got here in Los Angeles we thought we would do very well if we stayed these months and had no idea we’d stay this long
