Dear Wilma:
I got your letter and the clippings yesterday and really did enjoy them.
I guess you’ve had quite a siege of sickness now haven’t you. Maybe it will all be over for awhile. Yes it is rather funny what some people can write and others can’t. I think they are losining up a little on us now but we still can’t say exactly where we are. I guess you know pretty well though don’t you? When I went back to the hospital I rode a ship from here to Korvajalein which was only a few hours. Then went by plane to Taiwan. Stayed there a few days then flew to Johnston Island and on in to Kansluia. It was a pretty nice trip.
Yes, I get letters from Aline pretty often. She writes almost every day which really help keep my morale up. I don’t think there is any doubt but what we will be married when I get back. She wanted to a long time ago but you know me or should I say knew me because I fully agree with her now. I think she will be a good influence on me and I think Mom does too, besides, I love her —.
I guess Claude got in on the invasion of France didn’t he. If he was in England when you last heard from him.
I’m glad I didn’t make it. If I know what I missed and I don’t enjoy those things at all.
How is Mom and Dad getting along? It’s been just about a year now since I’ve seen them and over a year since I’ve seen you. Ethel of many I guess everybody will even look different by the time I get back. I sure hope nothing serious happens to anybody while I’m out here. I can imagine how Johnny Turpin must have felt.
Well, I guess I better stop this for now. Write every chance you get.
Love,
Elmer
